Deflater 1.0
Introduction
Deflater is a utility which allows you to compress and decompress the
databases on your Palm OS device using zlib. This can be
helpful if you want to save space or transfer databases faster.
News
1.20.2003 Initial version (1.0) released.
Instructions
After downloading, installing, and running Deflater, you will see the
main Deflater screen, which should look something like this:
The number in the upper-right corner tells you how much RAM you have
free. The two pushbuttons directly below the title bar let you select
between deflate (compress) and inflate (decompress) mode. The popup
list to the right of the deflate/inflate pushbuttons lets you filter
the database list for a certain type of database. After selecting a
database from the list, press the deflate (or inflate) button at the
bottom left to process the selected database.
Download
Download and install the following two PRC files to use Deflater:
Deflater.prc,
SysZLib.prc
Source code:
deflater_1.0.tar.gz
(with makefile for Cygwin, PRC-Tools)
You will also need SysZLib and the ULP to compile this application.
Known Issues
- On OS 3.5 ROMs, inflate sometimes fails. Seems to be only small
databases (< ~1 KB).
